The 11 most beautiful beaches in Egypt

If you fancy a real beach holiday with absolute sun guarantee, in a country that is not too far away and where it is still warm even in winter, then visit Egypt!

All sun worshipers and water lovers will get their money’s worth in the desert country. Look forward to wonderful beach landscapes and an underwater world that is one of the most beautiful in the world. Summer may be too hot for many, but Egypt is great fun from October to April. We introduce you to the 11 most beautiful beaches in Egypt!

1. Mahamaya Beach, Hurghada

Where to start if not in Hurghada, Egypt’s most popular holiday destination. The Mahamaya Beach is really a gem with the finest sand, a great view and a pleasant atmosphere. For a small fee you will spend a perfect day at the beach here. Loungers and parasols can of course be rented here, the toilets are cleaned regularly and the beach is tidy and clean. The associated restaurant serves very good food according to European standards – in Hurghada it is otherwise not so easy to eat outside of the large hotel complexes on the beach. And underwater it is also interesting here and it is teeming with colorful fish. The Red Sea is definitely at its most beautiful here – an absolute recommendation!

2. Laguna, Dahab

Dahab’s beaches were recently voted arguably the most beautiful in the Middle East by National Geographic. In fact, this combination of breathtaking panorama and fine sandy beach can only be found very rarely. The foothills of the Sinai mountains rise in the background and in front of them the turquoise blue waters of the Gulf of Aqaba stretch to the horizon. The physical well-being is taken care of and restaurants on the beach prepare traditional Egyptian dishes as well as burgers and international food. Parasols and loungers belong to the respective hotel complexes, but can also be rented. The gently sloping sandy beach also offers non-swimmers and children plenty of space to splash around, so you can have a good time here with the whole family. If you like sports, there are numerous water sports schools available; from windsurfing to wakeboarding to banana boating, everything is offered here.

3. Fjord Bay, Taba

This bay is real postcard material! This picturesque place is located between the mountains of Sinai, which rise steeply into the Gulf of Aqaba. If you want to escape the crowds of tourists, you will find a beautiful, secluded dream beach here. However, everyone should bring their own food and sunscreen, because this beach is in no way comparable to the resort beaches in Sharm El Sheikh. Taba Bay is also ideal for snorkeling and diving, as there are still largely untouched coral reefs of all shapes and colors in Fjord Bay; the largest of them, by the way, is in the shape of a banana. How is that possible you ask? You’ll have to convince yourself of this – a beach for those who enjoy exploring!

4. Shark’s Bay, Sharm El Sheikh

In the heart of the tourist metropolis of Sharm El Sheikh, this bay offers visitors everything that has made Sharm El Sheikh so famous. Sandy beach of heavenly quality, restaurants with fresh traditional food or the best BBQ. And the bars are also impressive. If you don’t want to do without anything and want to spend a day at the beach just a few minutes’ walk from the city center, this place is recommended. On the plentiful available sun loungers and under a parasol, it’s still best to endure it! If you want to let off steam, you can take a banana boat ride or meet like-minded people in one of the beach bars. This beach is really recommended for families as well as for single travelers.

5. Sahl Hasheesh Beach, Hurghada

Sahl Hasheesh Beach is south of Hurghada and not far from the airport with a youthful flair and a trendy beach setting. This 13 km long sandy beach is becoming increasingly popular and boasts many trendy beach bars and restaurants. Loungers and umbrellas can be rented and many chic and above all exclusive hotels have settled on this beach. As a high-class alternative to Hurghada, this beach is particularly suitable for those of you who want a classic beach holiday, but at the same time want something special.

6. Sharm El Luli, Marsa Alam

This still relatively unknown sandy beach in the south of Marsa Alam is one of the most beautiful in the world. People from all over the world wallow when they have to describe this beach: natural, white, incredibly fine sand pours into what is probably the clearest water imaginable. The beach slopes very gently, making it ideal for family splashing. The best way to get to this beach in Wadi Gemal National Park is on one of the organized tours from Marsa Alam. The providers make sure that the beach is kept clean and otherwise everyone can find a secluded spot to spread out on this large beach. The perfect place for a half or full day trip! There are umbrellas available and beach towels/carpets can be hired.

7. Agiba Bay, Marsa Matruh

Agiba Bay on Egypt’s Mediterranean coast is truly something special. Although you have to bring everything you need for the day with you, you get one of the most beautiful beaches in Egypt. The sandy, soft beach lies deep in a bay between limestone cliffs and offers an indescribable panorama. And not only the beach is fantastic, you can walk along the cliffs, swim in warm natural pools in the rock or cool off in the sea after a day of calm sea. In contrast to most beaches in Egypt, there are often waves here, which creates a new dimension. The weather in Marsa Matruh is usually a bit cooler than in the rest of Egypt, which is why this place is also very suitable for midsummer. The magic of this place, which literally means ‘miracle’, has to be experienced to be believed!

8. Zeituna Beach, El Gouna

In El Gouna, this beach is the place-to-be. Located very close to the center of El Gouna, you can get everything your heart desires here. Beach chairs and umbrellas can be hired, restaurants will spoil you with all kinds of good snacks and dishes and there is a pier that juts out into the water and is very popular with young people to jump into the water. The beach is rather coarse-grained and not a classic sandy beach. But that doesn’t mean it loses any of its beauty; On the contrary, it offers a pleasant change from the rest of the beaches in Hurghada and the surrounding area. Due to its proximity to the village, it is a popular destination for ending the day after shopping or for a short dip in the water before a day trip!

9. Ras Mohammed Beach, Sharm El Sheikh

This beach is located in the Ras Mohammed National Park, which is famous for its fantastic underwater world. If you are planning a snorkeling trip from Sharm El Sheikh, then this is probably the most interesting place. The beach itself is very natural, which means you have to bring your own towels and food or leave it to one of the many tour operators in Sharm. But you get a very special backdrop. In the area around Sharm El Sheikh and also in this national park are probably the northernmost mangrove populations – mangroves are trees that thrive in salt water and are usually only found in the tropical regions around the equator. So if you are planning a trip with a stay at the beach and at the same time want to explore the treasures of the national park, this beach is just right for you.

10. Ras Shitan, Nuweiba

Ras Shitan, which literally means “Devil’s Head”, is a very special beach in northern Nuweiba. The somewhat wild but beautiful sandy beach is particularly popular with young people or the hippie community. When Dahab became too big and too touristy for the hippies, they retreated here and have developed a special mix of beach culture, art scene and alternative community. In the numerous camps there are restaurants that prepare the traditional food of the Bedouins and there are umbrellas and loungers for hire or roofs made of palm branches under which one can relax. Anyone visiting Nuweiba must see this place. And even after sunset there is something going on here; with fire dances or live music, you can chill to the sounds of Bob Marley or electric music or watch the stars from afar. It is not for nothing that there are many dropouts from Germany, who prefer life on the beach to the hustle and bustle of the big cities. If only for one day – let yourself be enchanted by this unique atmosphere!
