Best travel time for the Spetses

The mixture of classic and modern architecture makes the port of Spetses something very special.

But Spetses also stands out in Greek history from a historical point of view, as it housed part of the military fleet during the Greek Revolution in 1821. Nowadays, however, the island’s main attractions are its calm turquoise waters, beautiful walking routes and lush greenery, which is even more accentuated in spring thanks to the wild flowers in bloom. Even better, the island is only a 3-hour ferry ride from Athens.

The weather on Spetses in spring: You can expect pleasantly warm weather in April and May with temperatures between 15°C and 25°C. However, there can be short, intense rain showers from time to time, so it is best to have an umbrella with you.

Getting to Spetses: You can take a hydrofoil (i.e. a fast ferry) from Piraeus to Spetses, which takes between 2-3 hours. Poros and Hydra are also served by the ferry line, so how about a day trip?
