Sport Classic special model / Probably the most expensive Porsche 911 of all time

Almost 60 years of the Porsche 911: In 1964, the sports car came onto the market for the first time as the successor to the 365. So far, seven more generations have followed. A new special model commemorates some of them.

Elegant retro look, fine equipment and a lot of performance: Those who are lucky enough to be able to call themselves a Porsche collector can now look forward to the new and of course limited 911 Sport Classic.

A history book on wheels

The special model can be recognized by a few striking features that should remind Porsche experts of many a classic:

At the rear it has the so-called “ducktail” spoiler of earlier models from the 1960s and 1970s.

Rally stripes run across the bonnet and roof (slightly arched over the driver and front passenger).

A special paint finish in the gray of the Porsche 356 is available.
Inside there is Pepita fabric on the seats and a two-tone black and brown leather interior. That, too, is part of the 911’s history.

The Porsche designers used the so-called original 911 from 1964 and the very rare 911 Carrera RS 2.7 from 1972 as great models for the design of the special model.

Engine from the 911 Turbo

The drive, on the other hand, comes from a different model: namely from the current 911 Turbo. The 3.7-liter twin-turbo six-cylinder petrol engine delivers 550 hp in the special model. Unlike the turbo model, the boxer engine is also shifted manually (seven gears) instead of an eight-speed automatic. An automatic double-declutching function when shifting down and a sports exhaust system make bystanders sit up and take notice.

Like other collector’s items, Porsche is charging handsomely for the Sport Classic: the price is around 273,000 euros – or about two and a half basic 911s. Nevertheless, the car will be sold out quickly. Because its value should increase significantly pretty soon. It also has this in common with the originals.
